SMACKDOWN

The Constructicons are still a very formidable fighting force when the aren't combined into the mighty Devastator.

Jazz and Drift are slightly outnumbered.

Prepare for Devastation!

This was the first attempt I made at rendered lighting, back when I was using the GIMP.

Sometimes a shot benefits from a bit of sunset lighting. Makes things a little more dramatic. ;]

CJ

No effects! Just some cropping.

Too bad poor Cliff lasted about 5 minutes into the Transformers: Prime pilot. At least he got a flashback episode last season!

Ohm

When you short your circuit you will find no resistance. Ohm.

Scavenger's shovel works as a wonderful meditation aid.

Doom Sword

Hasbro and third-party companies have been using a 5mm peg-and-hole system for Transformers figures with closed fists and the weapons they hold. TFC Toys has really embraced this idea with most of their figures and sets of re-configurable weapons. It lets your figures wield giant doom swords.

The Nemesis

A force of opposition is reaching out to stand against you from across the multiverse...

This shot didn't feel quite right until very nearly every ounce of color was squeezed out of it.

I feel like that sort of works well with the harsh desert lighting...

Revoltech

Clicky and bendy Optimus Prime from the Revoltech Sci-Fi movie series.

This is one serious-looking action figure.

Scavenger

The most downtrodden of the Constructicons. He knows the dark and powerful evil the lurks deep inside himself and his teammates...

All he really wants to do is build.

House of Pain

Here they are again. Back to deliver whole new worlds of hurt.

Tiny tiny bit of selective coloring to drab down Lugnut's colors and to make Windcharger pop.

Scherzo In Red

Lugnut and Windcharger are an excellent combination. Their colors contrast, their sizes contrast. Their style, aesthetic, factions, build, and altmodes contrast. But these all do so in ways that are enjoyably complimentary. What's not fun about a giant cycloptic WWIIish bomber going head on with a nimble little red muscle car with a bucket helmet?

Expect some more of these guys soon.

Encounter

This shot was up on the top of Sandia Crest, in New Mexico. There's a beautiful, scenic world unto itself up there.

Now for some plastic robots:

Fatigue and Desolation

I always liked this one.

Scourge, The Tracker

Scourge's re-imagining into a concept aircraft was a nice update from his G1 flying boat...thing. Beyond that, the figure is gorgeous. Great posability and his light-piping is delicious.

He's pulls off a good balance of sinister and classy.

Robot goatee.

PUNY AUTOBOT!!

Lugnut likes to break things for the GLORY of MEGATRON.

Reveal the Shield G2 Optimus is also a great little figure. Yeah, he had some issues, such as the altmode holding together and some wonky color choices. I still love him though.

DRI

This shot was processed for dynamic range increase. Actually, it's three shots that were taken using an auto-exposure bracket. Dynamic range increase is a kind of pseudo-HDR process that doesn't use the software that specifically touts being made to produce HDR photos.

The Jeep is Alternators Rollbar. Alternators was a wonderful little Transformers line in which all the figures had licensed vehicles for their altmodes. The majority of the figures also featured steering, but Rollbar and his redeco mates didn't. To make up for it, the Jeep mold had fun spring-loaded suspension.

The Bone Collector

Reveal the Shield and Generations were ramping up at the end of 2010, heading into 2011, and I have fond memories of toy hunting and photographing.

Jorge

The McFarlane Halo figures are simply impressive. The sculpts are remarkably detailed and the articulation continues to improve on subsequent generations of figures. The neck joint on these Reach figures is especially emotive.

I'll miss these figures. They had a knack for bringing out the nitty-gritty in the scenery and mixing nicely with it.

Starting with the Backlog

I'm gonna start off by highlighting some older photos as I catch up to the present.

Here's an old shot of the Hasbro version of Masterpiece Grimlock. He's coming for you.

One of the coolest little features on this figure is in the eyes. Both the dino eyes and robot eyes can switch between red and blue, if you want to have comics Grimlock or cartoon Grimlock.

So What's Gonna Start Happening Here

So what's going on? I'm hoping to start delivering regular updates on the toy-photography and, recently, stop motion I (attempt) to do.
